Growing with Wilma Pots

Wilma pot systems from ATAMI are one of the most versatile systems available on the market. With the Wilma you get the precision and control of hydroponic feeding but with the flexibility of drip feeding and growing in pots.

This demonstration was carried out using the 4-pot Wilma but your approach is the same if you are using one of the larger variants.

The following demonstration was carried out by Nutriculture ltd.

Place the tank on a level surface
wilma pot demonstration   Place the tray in position on the tank with the drain at the access end and fill the tank with water
wilma pot demonstration   Secure the pump in position and attach the delivery tube to the pump outlet
wilma pot demonstration   Fix the four-way dripper on to the top of the delivery tube using the threaded nipple and ensure you are using the correct dripper. Using clay pebbles or a free flowing medium you should use a ‘flood’ dripper and if your growing in Coco or Soils you should use a ‘restricted’ dripper. The Wilma comes with both drippers and full instructions.

wilma pot demonstration   Fill pots with your chosen growing medium.
wilma pot demonstration   We’ve chosen to grow in clay pebbles so we are using the ‘flood’ drippers that come with the kit. Alternatively you could use COCO, Soil, Rockwool or any other medium you prefer just make sure to use the arrow drippers instead if you do.
wilma pot demonstration   For trial proposes we have chosen to grow 4 ‘cherry’ tomatoes (variety F1 sungold) one in each pot. The plants were raised in our 20 site aeroponic propagator in Grodan 1” cubes.
wilma pot demonstration   After transplanting add nutrients at 1/2 the recommended full dose on your nutrient bottle. It’s important to only feed your plants at this stage 1/2 strength nutrient to encourage them to develop a strong root system. Adjust your ph to 5.5 also.

Advice:
We recommend using the system with a 15 minute segmental timer.

Running times:
Experience will show the best way to run the system but we recommend 1 or 2 floods a day when the plants are young and then observe the plant as it grows to decide on the amount of watering needed. The maximum number of floods is 1 ‘on’ period per hour during daylight hours but mostly fully mature plants will not need this many.
Week 1

6 days on and you can see the growth in the plants already. When using this system we recommended you perform a solution change at regular intervals. We recommend you change your solution once a week, A solution change helps to re-establish the balance of your nutrients in the system.

Hopefully this demonstration has given you an idea of the exciting results you can achieve when using Wilma pot systems.

Just continue refilling your reservoir once a week until harvest and consider flushing with ph5.5 plain water or a flushing product 7-10 days before that date.
