Contactors and Relays

Contactors and Relays are used to safely and reliably turn your hydroponic lighting system on and off. What you may have noticed if you have never used one is that your timers are continually breaking causing your lights to remain in the on position, this is because the high inductive load of your HPS lighting system is fusing the timer when it comes on. Contactor relays stop this by creating a loop so the timer tells the relay when to engage and disengage the light but the surge of power from your ballast never passes through it.
